All of these ideas are indoors so you don’t need to step a foot outside your door and are perfect for all the introverts like me out there.

Not to forget, some are free while others are cheap (so, you’re free to spend as little or as much as you want!). Without further ado, let’s get down to business.

1.  Make Dinner Together

Most dates involve dinner, so how about making dinner together at home? You can make one of your favorite meals or display your culinary skills by making something new.

The reason why I love these stay-at-home date ideas for couples is that it banishes worries of making reservations or extremely long waits for tables. You’d also avoid shouting over the restaurant chatter. Cooking a gourmet meal at home has all the wins!

Just light up some candles, turn on some mood music and try out your hands at some fancy dish; there are a lot of recipes online so no need to stress over a recipe book. Also, don’t forget that everything tastes better when you’ve made it together.

2.  Themed Dinner And Movie Night

There’s no need for a fancy restaurant date if you can pick a theme, dress up, have a gourmet meal and enjoy a movie together later. Instead of having just dinner, you can turn it into a themed night where the dinner and movie correspond with a chosen theme.

This is one of my favorite ideas for date night at home with husband. My husband likes to travel and is somewhat keen on geography and destinations, so my preferred theme is Travel! Our themed date nights are always travel inspired by destinations like Paris (France), Milan (Italy), Greece, Mexico, China, etc.

This stay-at-home date ideas for couples is the perfect way to curb wanderlust for those who can’t travel. We just pick out a country we’ve been wanting to visit or a favorite destination and relive it. We also watch movies in their language (but with subtitles) to complete the theme!

If it’s Italian-themed, we eat homemade pizza or pasta. In France, we dine on a cheese platter and wine while in the Japanese theme, we make sushi together.

3.  Transform A Room Together

This is a fantastic idea of what can couples do for fun at home. It’s budget-friendly, creative, and artistic. The difference between a tedious home improvement chore and a fun bonding couple activity is your attitude towards it.

Turn a boring home improvement to-do into date night by working on it together as a way to strengthen your relationship – not to mention your curb appeal.

All you have to do is choose a room in the house and redesign it together! Rearrange the furniture in the room, put up that gallery wall you’ve been wanting to hang, and maybe order some new décor pieces together.

Don’t forget to reward yourselves after with a glass of wine, some take-out, and the sweet satisfaction of a job well done.

4.  Draw Each Other

Instead of having a boring paint date, turn it into paint and sip. Have you ever gone to a paint and sip event? They are always a blast! But they cost money, too. Now, you have the opportunity of doing it on your own together with your partner.

You’ll need to watch an instructional video to help you create your masterpiece; Bob Ross is always a good time. Then grab some drinks, notebooks, canvases, and whatever drawing or coloring utensils you have, and use each other as your muses. Don’t forget to have fun while at it!

Are you feeling particularly frisky, turn up the excitement level by drawing each other in your birthday suit, Titanic-style.

5.  Have An At-Home Spa Date

Do you know that with these stay-at-home date ideas for couples you can recreate a high luxurious spa experience without the pricey rag attached to it?

You can do everything from face masks to massages, to a foot soak, to a bubble bath without leaving the home. All you have to do is slip into comfy spa-style robes and slippers, make your own face masks and body scrubs or buy them premade.

Draw out a steaming bubble bath for 2 and drop in some nice bath bombs. Fill a pitcher of water and infuse it with cucumbers and mint or other infusions.

Warm-up some massage oil, slather on some soothing face mask, and take turns giving each other luxurious, full-body massages using all the oils and lotions you’ve got in the house. Take your time, go slow, and really get into it; this is a great date idea to start the weekend relaxing!

6.  Host A Game Night

Game nights are one of my favorite ways to have a date night at home. I usually open a bottle of wine, set out a cheese board, and challenge each other to a bet.

With the pandemic and all, this is one date idea that can be easily converted into virtual dates. Turn it into a double date or group date by video calling in with another couple or more and play some games that can be done virtually.

There is an array to pick from such as classics like Pictionary, Werewolf, “Never Have I Ever,” and “Would You Rather?” or board games like chess, monopoly, scrabble, backgammon, etc. Just have fun!

7.  Slow Dance To Your Favorite Romantic Songs

When was the last time you and your partner danced together? You don’t need to head to the club or to a fancy party to dance together.

All you have to do to take your partner out for a spin on your makeshift dance floor is to dress the part for extra pizzazz, create a romantic playlist and have your own private dance session. Don’t forget to turn down the light to set the mood and to pop some champagne too!

8.  Play Video Games

A little friendly competition is always good for strengthening the bond, so spar in a way that doesn’t include the way he loads the dishwasher or whether the toilet seat should be up or down.

If you have a video game console, pick up the control and show who’s boss. Loser’s get to do the winner’s chore for a week. Let’s go!

9.  Stay Up All Night

This is absolutely my favorite of all stay-at-home date ideas for couples because it is an easy way to feel like you did when dating? When was the last time you stayed up all night with your spouse talking about all and nothing?

Try to take time out and discuss all and nothing especially a date night when you don’t have to get up early the next morning.

Talk about your plans and dreams for the nearest and distant future; talk about your aspirations and vacation plans. Here are some conversation starters to kickstart your night of deep soulful conversations with your spouse.

10.  Cook-Off Challenge

Are you looking for an easy way to spice up your date night from it’s regular boring date night? Well, I have the answer for you; all you need is some COMPETITION!

Friendly competition in your relationship thrown into a rather normal date night takes it to another level entirely. For example, instead of a normal cooking date night, you can turn it into a cook-off.

You can pick a specific course to create each {like an appetizer or dessert} or pick a specific ingredient that each person has to incorporate into whatever they make.

For example, the ingredient could be cauliflower and then each person comes with a creative dish that incorporates cauliflower in some way or a three course dinner incorporating cauliflower into every course.

11.  Karaoke Night

Having a karaoke night is one of the most fun nights ever! Find your favorite songs with lyrics on youtube, have a karaoke party for two, and sing your hearts out!

Turn up the cheesiest ballads you can think of, or belt out your favorite jams from high school and college. Brooms and mops make great “microphone stands,” or you can go the classic hairbrush route.

There are also some home karaoke systems or wireless mics you can pick up without breaking the bank. I love this date because it’s a great endorphins booster which is great for your relationship.

12.  Have A Stay-At-Home Picnic Date

This is one of my all-time go-to date ideas for the perfect lazy day especially if we can’t go out to the beach or park; I just improvise and turn it into a nighttime stay-at-home picnic.

Not only does a late-night picnic allow for sweet romance (what’s better than a starry sky and some wine and cheese?) it’s also super easy to arrange, even last-minute.

Other times, we just enjoy the picnic on the patio or deck, throw some blankets on the lawn, or even build a fort in the living room.

No matter the location at home, the goal is to enjoy ourselves with all our go-to picnic favorites (fruit salads, sandwiches, yummy snacks, crackers, cheese, and the like).

13.  Watch A Sports Game Together

If you enjoy watching sports, you can watch a game together; eat hotdogs, nachos and cheer for your favorite team. My husband and I happen to support different Soccer teams in England, so we make bets on who will win and chose a reward for the winner.

This is one of the ways I like spending quality time with my husband irrespective of the follow-up banter as we are pure with our emotions in such a state.

14.  Have A Movie Marathon

Movie nights are a classic; put a spin on it by making it a marathon! Pick a theme (whether classics like childhood favorites, or genres like action, romance, or comedy) and watch as many as you can.

This is not the most creative date idea but it’s certainly simple and is a great way to learn more about each other and can spark some interesting conversation.

15.  Try A New Hobby Together

Due to the abundance of online video tutorials, kits, and how-to books, a new skill set is just a few clicks or pages away.

Try learning something new together. Learning with your partner is an amazing way to connect, create fun memories and strengthen bonds.

You could learn magic tricks, ballroom dancing, try journaling, or get really crafty by drawing each other’s portrait, painting, or creating a scrapbook. The list is endless, just pick a new hobby both of you might be or are interested in and learn away!
